Spain 1-1 Costa Rica – Live Text – Group E – 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup

Spain had the chances to get the win, but Costa Rica hold onto claim a superb point.

Pablos can’t quite get the ball down and the ball falls to Borja but she shoot straight at the keeper.

Pablos checks inside in the box but then shoots wide of the left post.

What a chance and what a save. Borja gets down the left and plays it to Boquete, she sets up Losada who curls the ball towards the top left corner, but Diaz launches a flying save to parry it away.

Delightful run from Boquete, despite being crowded out by 3 defenders still keeps going to pass to Bermudez who is acres of space. Inside the box, her shot on the outside of her right foot curls just wide of the right post.

Spain have a corner. Bermudez’s corner played to the edge of the box, but Hermoso’s header lacks the power and is easily saved.

Delightful passing from Spain sees Bermudez into the box thanks to Hermoso’s flick, but when she cuts inside, her curling shot looks like its going in but hits Acosta’s body. Goal saving block there!

Spain have another glorious chance! Lovely skill from Boquete sees her break into the box, and cleverly passes to the unmarked Hermoso, who takes her time, sets herself and shoots wide of the post! Spain need to take these chances.

Landa’s cross picks out Pablos with a great cross, but her header goes wide of the left post.

Great chance for Spain. Bermudez’s cross picks out Pablos 6 yards from goal, but she can’t get the ball under control and Costa Rica clear.

Spain have dominated possession, but Costa Rica deserve to go in at half-time 1-1.

Nearly a goalkeeping howler from Spain. Alvarado’s whipped delivery from a free-kick is fumbled by Tirapu, but reclaims the ball just ahead of Venengas who was lurking.

A great chance for Costa Rica! With her back to goal Rodriguez Cedeno plays Barrantes into the box but her shot goes wide of the left post.

Spain come close from another corner. Bermudez’s delivery finds Paredes, but her header is superbly headed clear by Alvarado

The lead lasted 74 seconds. A wonderful run from Rodriguez sees her break to the byline, her cut-back takes out the keeper giving Rodriguez Cedeno an empty net to score into.

13 mins – GOAL SPAIN 1-0 Costa Rica (Losada)

A lovely short corner catches Costa Rica out, is worked to Bermudez whose cross picks out Losada. She turns her marker and curled to the bottom left corner.

Spain have a free-kick on the left, and Losada whipps the ball in. Costa Rica’s keeper Diaz drops the ball, but her defence comes to the rescue and the danger is gone.

6 mins

Another chance for Spain as Pablos heads back a long free-kick to Puetellas, but she gets her shot all wrong.

5 mins

Spain have the first corner of the game, and it’s a great one. Bermudez’s ball picks out Paredes whose header hits the ground, but the keeper saves on the bounce.
