11th June 2015 – FIFA 2015 Women’s World Cup Round-Up

The 11th June 2015 saw yet another thrilling day of women’s football, with the game of the day coming from the most unusual source.

Game of the Day

The Game of the Day came from the match that was probably written off by many. In Group B, Cote D’Ivoire and Thailand are both making their World Cup debuts and both had bruising encounters against Norway and Germany.

So when the two minnows met, they both knew that this was their only realistic hope of picking up a historic three points. And due to this, the game was open and entertaining, with incredible misses and huge excitement.

Read my report on the match here.

Germany Vs Norway

In the other Group B clash, two of the heavyweights met. Germany and Norway have both won the World Cup and European Championships and have participated in incredible matches.

They played out another entertaining match, with a contender for the goal of the tournament.

Group A Remains Tight

In the opening day of the World Cup, Group A played out two tight games with Canada beating China, and Netherlands defeated New Zealand.

And in the second round of group matches, there were two more tight games.

First up, China took on Netherlands. China dominated the game, having 26 shots on target as they looked to get the win their qualification hopes relied upon.

Canada took in New Zealand in a storm interrupted game which included a missed penalty.
