90+3 mins England Sub
Stoney on for Chapman
90+3 mins – YELLOW CARD
This is controversial. Taylor is fouled by Sesselmann just outside the box, Taylor is through on goal. Surely a red card?

FIVE MINUTES OF ADDITIONAL TIME. My heart can’t take this.

Allysha Chapman plays Leon down the left, she breaks into the box, she can’t get the shot off and the ball squirms past Chamberlain, but Rafferty clears.

Jade Moore fouls Allysha Chapman just outside the box
Diana Matheson replaces Rhian Wilkinson
Indecision in the England area from Bassett and Houghton nearly cost England, but Canada can’t take advantage as Tancredi tries to pass to Sinclair instead of shooting.
For a second I thought England have a penalty. Jill Scott whips the ball across to Carney who goes down in the box under Wilkinson’s challenge, but the referee correctly rules the England player controlled with her hand/
Williams launches the corner in, Jill Scott heads down and Houghton’s shot is brilliantly blocked by Sesselman, and McLeod catches.
55 mins – CLOSE
Carney steals the ball off Schmidt, runs at the box, sets up Taylor whose shot is curling in at the far post, but McLeod tips it round the post.
Sinclair puts in a great cross, which causes chaos, but England clear eventually before Canada can get a shot off.

Siobhan Chamberlain comes on for Karen Bardsley.
Canada have a free-kick on the half-way line, Sesselman’s ball is good but Tancredi is penalised for a foul. Bardsley is down with an eye injury, and it looks like England will bring on a replacement keeper.
Katie Chapman sets up Carney, who slips as she shoots from 20 yards and her effort just goes over.
Canada kicks off the second half. Come on England!
HALF TIME England 2-1 Canada
England can’t make wins easy can they?
Ashley Lawrence turns Jade Moore, breaks into the box and fires a curling ball/shot to the far post, Bardsley should catch it – but she spills it and Sinclair is there to fire in the rebound
Canada have a free-kick just inside their half, Sesselman launches the ball, Sinclair heads down, and Laura Bassett scrappily clears.
Schmidt’s corner is punched clear by Bardsley. Canada recycle the ball, and Desiree Scott’s ball back in bounces just in front of Bardsley, but the keeper catches it.

England have a free-kick 35 yards on the left-wing. Williams delivery picks out Katie Chapman and her header loops up, McLeod misses it and the ball hits the crossbar. Lost in the sun?
Before today, Canada hadn’t scored two goals in their last 21 games. That will need to change. They hadn’t conceded twice in their last 15 games. They like their 1-0 wins… That won’t happen today. Fara Williams is back on.
Fara Williams is down with a knock to her ankle. Hopefully she will be okay.
England have a corner. Williams tries to pick out Bronze, but Canada just about deal with it.
Sinclair cuts off the right, and into the box and she tries to curl the ball into the far post, but it goes wide.

England gets this quarter-final underway.
Laura Bassett was limping in the pre-match warmup, but she still starts.
National anthem time. God Save The Queen up first.
England won their first ever knockout game as they came from behind to defeat Norway 2-1. These two met in the 2015 Cyprus Cup where England won 1-0. However, in a pre-tournament friendly, Canada won 1-0 thanks to Sophie Schmidt’s goal. This is going to be a long night….
Interestingly, in the dugout it is England vs Wales. John Herdman, the Canadian coach comes from County Durham, whilst Mark Sampson is Welsh.
(4-3-3) Karen Bardsley, Lucy Bronze, Steph Houghton, Laura Bassett, Claire Rafferty, Jade Moore, Jill Scott, Fara Williams, Katie Chapman, Karen Carney, Jodie Taylor.

Welcome to my live-text coverage of England vs Canada in the Quarter-Final. There is something about England and quarter-finals, and it is not a good thing. Records are there to be changed? Right? Just have to deal with 54,000 hostile Canadians…
