90+3 mins USA SUB
Sydney Leroux replaces Alex Morgan
THREE MINUTES of additional time
84 mins – GOAL USA 2-0 Germany (Kelley O’Hara)
Killer blow. Klingenberg does brilliantly, and passes to Lloyd. She breaks into the box and at the byline cuts back across goal to O’Hara who scores into an empty net. What a time to get your first international goal!
Leonie Maier shoots from 30 yards, and well over.
Abby Wambach replaces Megan Rapinoe
Dzsenifer Marozsan replaces Anja Mittag
Kelley O’Hara replaces Tobin Heath
Germany have a free-kick about 30 yards from goal. Goessling’s ball is dealt with by USA
Carli Lloyd vs Nadine Angerer. She places it to the right corner, Angerer goes the wrong way!!!! Perfect penalty. No keeper would save that
Morgan breaks to the box, she is pushed over by Krahn who is booked. Replays show it was just outside the box
66 mins – CLOSE
Morgan does brilliantly to make room for herself in the box, she shoots from a tight angle, but her shot goes just wide
Great play from Klingenberg wins a corner. What can USA do here. Holiday’s corner is poor
63 mins – CLOSE
Laudehr cuts the ball back to the edge of the box, but Mittag misses the target
Celia Sasic vs Hope Solo. Sasic places is wide of the left post!!! Solo went the wrong way too.
A ball picks out Popp in the penalty area, but she is pulled back by Johnston
Half-chances for both teams. Mittag has a shot blocked by Sauerbrunn before Krieger does brilliantly down the right, but her cross is straight at Angerer.
Laudehr cuts in and puts a delightful ball in, Mittag gets a header onto it, it is just going wide but Solo has to get the touch to be sure. The German corner comes to nothing
Heath’s hesitation gives Germany a corner. Goessling’s delivery goes through everyone, Sacic tries to put the ball back in, but the cross is terrible
USA have a corner. Rapinoe picks out Lloyd who is unmarked, but heads wide. Germany can’t let her have that much space again.
The Second Half starts. Is this going to extra time?
HALF-TIME USA 0-0 Germany
Still goalless, but USA have had the better chances.
USA have a corner. Rapinoe’s cross doesn’t beat the first player. They work the ball from the throw-in back to Rapinoe, but she mishits her cross
There will be four minutes of additional time
Morgan uses lovely skill to take the ball past Krahn into the box, but she tries to lob the keeper but gets the contact wrong as the ball goes wide.
Kemme is in a battle down the left, Krieger does well but the German still gets a ball into the box which is cleared by Johnston. They recycle it to Mittag who shoots from distance, but it was a terrible effort
Tabea Kemme tries for long-range, but the shot is never troubling Hope Solo
38 mins – USA Yellow Card
Becky Sauerbrunn is booked for a late challenge on Anja Mittag
A USA corner causes loads of problems, as Germany can’t clear but Tobin Heath’s close range shot is blocked behind. They can’t do anything with the corner
36 mins – CLOSE
Klingenberg has a shot on the edge of the box, it’s harmless, but it hits the head of Bartusiak, diverting it and the shot just goes wide of the left post.
Leonie Maier is booked for pulling back Megan Rapinoe
The game restarts. Both players are back on
Klingenberg fouls Maier in a dangerous area. Germany have a free-kick, 20 yards but on the right channel. Goessling’s delivery to the far post is header clear by Brian, but her and Popp are down with head injuries
USA have another corner. Rapinoe tries to pick out Johnston again, but Germany clear. USA have had the better chances so far
Laudehr is allowed to make a 50 yard run, she passes to Sacic but looking for the pass back, it is intercepted by Johnston
14 mins – CLOSE
Carli Lloyd’s pass splits the German centre-backs, sending Alex Morgan one-on-one, but the American doesn’t place her shot and Angerer makes a great save with her legs.
Rapinoe shows some lovely skill to make room in the box, but her shot is saved low down by Angerer. The shot lacked the power and was straight at the keeper at the near post.
Alexandra Popp’s cross has to be parried over by Hope Solo. Germany waste the corner
USA have a corner. Rapinoe’s ball is brilliant, Johnston’s flicked header is superbly saved by Angerer. Tobin Heath’s right-wing cross is harmless but Angerer almost flounders, diving to catch it. Luckily for her it goes wide
Germany have the first corner. Goessling’s corner picks out Leupolz who has a free-header, but it loops over. The ball was just behind her, but USA can’t give them that much space again.
